NORTH HAITI MISSION
NOVEMBER 4-14, 2002 TRIP TO HAITI

Dear Team Member:

Home from Haiti today, about 1:00 AM.

The trip went well.  Lots of good things happening like:

    1. Fifty-seven (57) in the new Bible school.

    2. Computer class with 19 enrolled.

    3. Clinic 3 days a week for half a day.

    4. Haitian nurse hired.

    5. Sex education class for 17 young girls.

    6. New school foundation.

    7. New Mission Home half-built.  Concrete poured on second floor last Tuesday.  Pastor Laroche expects it to be completed by the March mission trip.

    8. Upgrading of school curriculum.

    9. Uniforms for school children.

    10. Meeting with teachers, and established quarterly teacher meetings.

    11. Herman leased 5 acres of land next to the mission from Alceste for 10 years for $1000.00.  He paid for it, and it is to be a coop that can start right away.  A meeting will take place tomorrow to choose 10 people to start the project.

    12. Pastor Laroche gave the mission another piece of land for a coop.  It is located near the home for the homeless.  A well will be drilled in March, and will be used with a solar system.  A possible fish farm is planned for that land, as well as a coop farm. It appears to be at least 5 acres.

    13. The Hutchinson's are doing a good job, and have peace about being in Haiti.

    14. I didn't get sick at all on this trip.  I was never so careful, but 4 others were really sick, including Marie Laroche.   All got better before returning home.

    15. Jim and 6 girls passed out worm medicine in the village of Caesse.  I went along to observe and take pictures.

    16. I took 6 rolls of pictures, and as soon as they are developed I will make up a new flyer.

There is more, but that is all for now.

Love in Christ
